From the archives: Mexican drug lord "El Chapo" recaptured after second prison escape in 2016
On Jan. 8, 2016, Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman was captured, six months after escaping prison for the second time. Guzman, head of the powerful Sinaloa Cartel, escaped from a maximum security prison through a one-mile tunnel that opened into the shower area of his cell. Mexican marines apprehended Guzman after an intense shootout, in which five people were killed. CBS News correspondent Ben Tracy covered the story for the “CBS Evening News.”

Mexico Captures Drug Lord Wanted for Murder of US Agent
Mexican authorities have captured notorious drug kingpin Rafael Caro Quintero, who was on the FBI's list of 10 most-wanted fugitives for the murder of a U.S. undercover agent that strained the countries' diplomatic relations.
Quintero, 69, is accused by the United States of ordering the kidnap, torture and murder of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) special agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena in 1985.
